The independence of brazil or brazilians

by Rodrigo Sales

On September 7 we celebrated the independence of Brazil and my birthday …. hauhauahaua.

This holiday makes reference to the day when Brazil became independent from Portugal in 1822. It is a national holiday that is celebrated with civic-military activities, but specifically with parades.

Due to the political problems in our country we have less and less things to celebrate on these holidays, but because it is an event full of authorities we can use it to fight for our rights and thus be noticed by the authorities.

The pros and cons of this event

  • The pros: opportunity for historical and political awareness, chance to witness the parades as a way of valuing the country’s armed forces and chance to get to know aircrafts because it also hosts an air parade, chance to get noticed by the authorities and claim your rights.
  • The cons: agglomeration, political fights, traffic jam because the streets are closed and the possibility of extremist attacks.

I personally believe it is an excellent event to fight for our rights and learn about our country’s history.
